Project: Depositional Zone Identification along a Portion of the Monongahela River near the Big John Salvage Remedial Investigation, Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia
M-AT was contracted by Tetra Tech, Inc. for the U.S. Environmental and Protection Agency to identify river bottom features and general sediment characteristics in the Monongahela River near the Big John Salvage remedial investigations site near the City of Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia. Based on historical information, coal tar/creosote might have drained off the Big John Salvage Site and contaminated sediments upstream and downstream of the site.
M-AT was contract by Tetra Tech to conduct side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profile surveys of the Monongahela River for the purpose of:
- Identifying sediment deposition areas;
- Detecting and delineating thin sediment layers and bedding planes;
- Detecting and delineating sub-bottom sediments and interfaces.
